Recently, Vice President Yang Bin of Xiamen University (XMU) attended the 11th Sino-Japan University President Forum held in Japan and visited Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) and Kanagawa University (KU). This year's forum was hosted by Waseda University and participated by the leaders of more than 40 prestigious universities in China and Japan as well as the officials and representatives from 6 government agencies and academic institutions including the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Japan, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and so on.

In the speech titled "Exploring Cooperative Schooling and Research Models in Asia: Cases on the Cooperation Projects between Universities of China and Japan", Yang introduced the cooperation between XMU and universities in Japan, the scientific research of XMU as well as his thoughts on fostering XMU's cooperation with Japan.

During the forum, Yang also exchanged views with the officials from Chuo University, Japan Science and Technology Agency and other universities and institutions about issues such as further promoting the substantive collaborative research, the exchange of researchers and students, and the joint dual-degree programs.

After the forum, Yang led the delegation to visit TUFS, KU and other partner universities,  taking with relevant leaders about further cooperation in areas such as talent exchange and academic research. 

The "Sino-Japan University President Forum" was initiated by Peking University and the University of Tokyo to promote cultural exchanges between China and Japan and strengthen substantive exchanges and cooperation between universities in the two countries. Since 2000, thw forum has gradually become a high-level platform for exchanges and cooperation between China and Japan in higher education. XMU was the host of the 8th Sino-Japan University President Forum in 2013.
